Defining the exact interface between reliable safety and minimal costs – this is where our ambitions and responsibilities lie. From the outset we help our clients to avoid excessive expenditure and to keep the overall cost of their projects low. As part of this process our engineering company has also built up decades of experience in the field of testing procedures.
3 additional apertures were to be made in an old brick chimney on the site of the HEW Allermöhe long-distrance heating station for the connection of a block-type thermal power station. Such openings have a serious effect on the statics of such a sensitive object.
In accordance with a design made by ACR Industriebau, the height of the chimney was shortened from 67 m to 55 m, and the interior wall was removed. The new flue gas pipe was lowered by crane from above into the brick shell whose core had been removed. Then the three new “foxholes” were cut at the bottom of the chimney and lined with steel.
As a result of careful planning and calculation, this reconstruction saved the client, Esso Favorit, from having to tear down the old chimney and build a new one.
Our engineering company carried out the statics calculations for the chimney reconstruction in the HEW heating station.
In other chimney projects we tested explosives meant to bring down the chimney, and calculated the protective netting required around the chimneys.
