Patent 25 58 748 protects a procedure whereby a subterraneous curtain can be made with reinforcement over several sections This procedure makes the upper beam which is otherwise fitted unnecessary, and the wall becomes significantly stiffer. The arrangement is shown in Fig. 1. The patent has now expired.
Patent 195 04 363 describes a procedure which achieves the best possible protection of a building or similar structure against vibration through the use of a subterraneous curtain with double-walled sheet piling. A vertical chamber is built in the ground which then blocks the vibrations. The technique is shown in Fig. 2.
A further alternative for vibration protection provides for the foundation elements to be arranged in such a way that the vibrations are not allowed to "enter" the building. As this is a pending patent, no further details can be given at this time.
